What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ranch Hand position at Cannon Ranch, LLC?
About the operation:
We are a cow-calf operation located in Nevada. Our main ranch is situated in Hiko, with a second ranch located 90 miles north in Lund. The Lund Ranch consists of 720 acres of deeded pastures, a 75,000-acre, year-round BLM range, and a 16,000-acre forest permit. Together, we run 1,600 cow-calf pairs of Angus and Hereford cattle and breed and retain our own replacement heifers.
We are recruiting for an experienced ranch hand to help care for multiple herds of cattle operating as one unit of the ranch. These cattle are grazed on desert ranges that require some water hauls and considerable riding. Herd sizes range from 200 to 400 head, and at certain times of the year, you will care for around 1,000 cows.
We pride ourselves on our state-of-the-art facilities and management practices, achieving efficiency while still valuing "old-school" expertise. We breed our own commercial Black Baldy heifers from our purebred Black Angus cows and Hereford bulls sourced from some of the finest seedstock producers in the country. Our farming division produces high-quality hay and corn silage to support feeding calves in our own feedlot throughout the year. The ranch fosters a family-oriented working environment and is home to many long-term employees.
