The Fitness Coordinator supports Cano Health’s gym facilities and is responsible for the coordination and planning of fitness and wellness activities, such as exercise classes, health seminars, and special events. The Fitness Coordinator will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and cleaning fitness equipment, welcoming patients, explaining programs and activities, teaching patients how to use the equipment. They will also be responsible for providing basic fitness information, reporting, resolving complaints, maintaining attendance records and ensuring rules and regulations are enforced.
Responsibilities
- Greet all participants and keep an open line of communication with each patient.
- Keep accurate attendance on ECW for all participants, follow the workflow as required.
- Maintain wellness- and fitness-related schedules, records, or reports.
- Ensure the compliance and successful implementation of gym rules and regulations.
- Follow departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.
- Ensure the completion of all screening and waiver forms and coach patients on expectations.
- Perform set-up and clean-up responsibilities for each class and/or session.
- Provide general support or counseling in general wellness and fitness practices and promote participation to patients.
- Conduct needs assessments or surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness and fitness programs, events, or services.
- Maintain a membership list and track daily attendance.
- Maintain Gym inventory of equipment, gym exercise materials – including model and serial number.
- Monitor and maintain quality of fitness programs.
- Develop effective fitness classes to attract more customers to ensure business growth.
- Ensure fitness facility is kept clean, safe and organized.
- Ensure fitness equipment and tools are maintained safe and good working condition.
- Change wording- Develop effective fitness programs to attract more customers to ensure business growth.
- Work in conjunction with other departments to ensure the appropriate coordination of the service.
- Notify Clinical staff and Facility Manager immediately of any incidents involving equipment, staff and/or patients.
- Always monitor gym to ensure facility is kept clean, safe and organized.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Health Center Manager and/or Wellness Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED minimum.
- One to three years’ experience in recreation, physical fitness facility, country club or customer service industry.
- First-aid training and CPR/AED certification required. Due to the physical nature of the position, the ability to set up large equipment and lift at least 35 pounds.
