What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Specialist position at Canon Careers?
Canon U.S.A., Inc. in Melville, NY is seeking a Logistics Specialist (Specialist, Logistics) who will be responsible for a range of activities including direct support of business unit sales and customer service requirements, Warehouse Management System (WMS), division support and Division reporting activities. Support solution planning to align with Logistics strategy and work frequently in a small team environment on a variety of initiatives and projects.
This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Mondays and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.
- Effectively communicate to internal business colleagues as well as external partners ensuring that Corporate Logistics is meeting or exceeding our customer expectations and requirements.
- Engaging in order exception handling, such as working with carriers to resolve any in transit issues.
- Working with each business units to ensure inbound and outbound shipping requirements are met for sale target.
- Document and distribute information on Corporate Logistics activities, such inventory optimization and rework process.
- Analyze data and proposes improvements to productivity/efficiency within all facets of the corporate and regional Logistics operations
- Maintains budgeting responsibility for individual projects and contributes to increased awareness of and adherence to costs and efficiencies within the Logistics Division.
- Identify and provide guidance and support for staff training in technology areas necessary to support Logistics operations

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Logistics Planning, Operations Management or Business Administration) or equivalent experience required, plus 3 to 5 years of related experience.
- Spanish proficiency, preferred.
- Warehouse Management System experience, preferred.
- Fundamental understanding of end to end supply chain.
- Occasional overnight travel.
- Detail oriented, strong time management skills; able to manage multiple projects/assignments with varying deadlines.
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Advanced skills in the MS Office Suite (mainly Excel and PowerPoint) as well as above average analytical and quantitative skills.
