GENERAL SUMMARY
The store manager works collaboratively as part of the farm’s leadership team. The store manager oversees all aspects of the market’s retail operations including ordering, receiving, merchandising, staff supervision and customer service. The store manager works with the farm director and eCommerce/Inventory Specialist in the maintenance of Square Point of Sale. The store manager models high quality service keeping customer satisfaction & market presentation as the top priority.
The ideal candidate will be business-oriented with strong experience in retail operations and knowledge of produce, as well as demonstrated success working in a diverse team. This role will work with customers and internal stakeholders to build and maintain a roadmap that is designed to deliver a superior shopping experience, increase sales and delivery systems (eCommerce) and operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
- Oversees the weekly purchasing of food products for the farm market, produce membership programs and related events in addition to an eclectic inventory of items representing the arts, clothing, personal care & pet products.
- In coordination with the eCommerce & Inventory Control Specialist maintains all purchasing records and vendor database within Square Point of Sale.
- Work with the Production Manager, to ensure all available Agency grown product is represented in the farm market and maximizes cross-merchandising opportunities.
- Ensure all products are priced competitively and accurately in the farm market.
- Update signage and point of purchase marketing, as needed.
- Collaborate with Farm Director to oversee produce membership program’s promotions, enrollment and member relations.
- Continuously generates leads of new products and vendors with an emphasis on developing partnerships with local entrepreneurs.
- Works with Farm Market Associates to minimize shrinkage of perishable items.
- Assists with scheduling to ensure proper coverage and maximum employment of individuals served.
- Creates daily farm market task lists for individuals served.
- Oversees nightly deposits, daily sales receipts, product invoices and monthly delivery of receiving documents to headquarters.
- As part of the leadership team, plans and executes promotional events such as open houses, promotional offerings, and educational family-friendly events.
- Collaborates with local food pantries to coordinate donations, as able.
- Works closely with marketing and communications to promote farm products in social media.
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships with customers, community contacts, vendors, and other key partners.
- Works collaboratively in a matrixed program and consistently demonstrate excellent stakeholder management at all levels of the organization.
- Maintains an encouraging and positive work environment for adults with disabilities.
- Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and development activities, as required.
- Serves as mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC).

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years prior retail, farm market, grocery and/or garden center purchasing experience preferred including 2 years prior customer service experience.
- Organizational and inventory management experience required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with a POS (Point of Sale) system (preferably Square) effectively tracking sales, analyzing profits/expenses in detail, maintaining inventory, analyzing sale trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organization and multi-tasking skills; excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with a positive can-do attitude. Willingness to take ownership of your work and get the job done. Prefer a good sense of humor and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to work weekends during peak growing and retail seasons.
- Willingness to work outside in any weather condition.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Supervises work of Farm Market Associates.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent standing and bending.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
