STATISTICIAN
Work Location: Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio
The Cape Fox family is looking for a Statistician to join our growing team in support of a Government customer at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The ideal candidate provides support to the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Core Duties:
- Import, clean, merge, manage, transform, validate, and/or analyze large multivariate datasets.
- Test data to identify data integrity issues, making recommendations and coordinating with the team lead to plan solutions; troubleshoot problems concerning database records and analysis, and communicate with team lead/team members; appraise/recommend improvements for existing data management and recommend requirements for new systems.
- Assist with design and document data management processes and assist with developing data dictionaries as necessary; establish the relationship of available data to existing datasets, map data and coding for specific data elements, maintain statistical software codes; provide training on products created as needed; perform data archive procedures within established guidelines as provided by the team lead.
- Provide consultation support for other researchers, including study design assistance, analysis advice, and document review.
- Utilize descriptive statistics to summarize data.
- Summarize and report data analyses in a clear, concise manner; present results to stakeholders and/or at scientific conferences; create written communication for internal and external purposes; write-up results in technical reports or publication-quality manuscripts.
- Participate in data-driven projects; provide assistance with DAsH team requirements such as producing timely and accurate data, analysis and reports in response to ad hoc/special requests.
- Ensure all documents and datasets are appropriately vetted prior to release outside the organization.
- Work with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure compliance with human subjects research regulations; draft IRB protocols and other documentation as needed; write Data Use Agreements and/or Memoranda of Agreement with data sources.
- Maintain data security in strict compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and related federal regulations.
- Work with Information Technology (IT) support personnel to ensure compliance with USAF and DoD IT requirements.
- Utilize statistical/database software packages such as Statistical Analysis System (SAS), Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Access, and Structured Query Language (SQL) Server; utilize standard software packages such as Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Maintain professional relationships with team lead, team members, investigators, and 711 HPW.
- Apply standard statistical methods to the data in order to study Air Force Medical Service identified gaps.

Job Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Master’s level degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field with knowledge of common statistical methods and experience applying them to real-world situations.
- At least 5 years’ experience combining, cleaning, and analyzing large multivariate datasets, including experience with epidemiological and/or health-related datasets.
- Possess technical writing and presentation skills, including the ability to conduct scientific literature reviews.
- Be professional, detail oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and speak English fluently with the ability to thrive in a team environment, yet able to complete assigned tasks independently or with minimal guidance from the team lead.
- Proficient with statistical/database software packages such as Statistical Analysis System (SAS), Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Access, and Structured Query Language (SQL) Server as well as software packages such as Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Must be able to pass a Tier 1 background investigation
- Compliance with the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements as issued by the White House’s Safer Federal Workforce Task Force which states: employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than January 18, 2022, unless a reasonable accommodation for health or religious beliefs is approved by HR in advance.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Prior military experience or previous experience working in a military environment.
