Job Summery:
The role of the Operational Technology (OT) Solutions Architect (SA) – Process Industries will be to provide support for paid consulting services to clients within continuous process industry (eg Energy, Utility and Chemical) This position will have the responsibility of advising team members and clients based on assigned projects; discovery, visioning and requirements definition. This experienced individual will come with the knowledge necessary to be a primary OT resource and must have the ability to vision the end-to-end OT/IIoT network and security architectures, including its integration into the client defined IT architecture; define the structure of the system, its interfaces, and software; and oversee and assist in the mitigation of technical risks, to ensure that the delivery services can be realistically completed using current technology components.
The position requires experience in all aspects of operational technology including but not limited to knowledge of IIoT, PLCs, HMI, Industrial Networks and Software used by the industry. The OT SA should be ready to work directly with end client (virtually and potentially face to face) providing preplanning advice on requirements, assisting the implementation team’s understanding of requirements and work with an OT SME team member to define POC/FAT objectives acceptable to client.
Skills
The OT Solutions Architect will:
- Understand the international standards involved in connecting OT technology including but not limited to network protocols, OPC-UA, ISA95/Purdue Model, ISA99, EC 62443, NERC CIP, or ICS/Operational technology standards and global regulatory requirements would also be desirable
- Strong understanding of OT networks, protocols, assets/devices, and engineering of those solutions
- Strong understanding of OT/energy security, components, and challenges
- Strong understanding of key cyber security controls that should be implemented within OT environments
- Consult the clients on corporate standards for engineering, delivery, technology selection and design
- Ability to create large technical/security solutions and present to executive level
- Ability to engage at executive level for business case and solution sign-off
Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Demonstrating sound judgement and decision making, and be able to credibly interact professionally at all levels across the organization
- Able to demonstrate a high degree of credibility and influence senior stakeholders within the organization and key external stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree level (ideally in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering), or equivalent combination of education and experience strong technical know-how and experience within OT environments
- Project management and delivery of solutions across OT environments
- Practical Experience in delivery of controls, project management, design, or application of controls within Industrial Control systems in either electric, oil or gas industries
- Ability to define and deliver services to internal and external customers, achieving excellent customer satisfaction
- Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to create and work in virtual teams to solve business issues
- 3-5 years' experience developing OT data/network/security architectures as a Solution Architect or Administrator
- 5 years Operational Technology (OT) domain, MES in automation or allied industry experience
Preferred
- An Information Security qualification such as CISSP, CISM or GIAC would be desirable
- Demonstrable experience in cyber security as applied to ICS, SCADA, P&C and DCS systems (such as Intrusion detection systems and design, OT incident response and vulnerability management, etc.)
- Thorough knowledge of typical Industrial Control System vulnerabilities, exploitation mechanisms, security testing and remediation / mitigation measures
- General experience in IT and networking
