What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Skills Instructor position at Capital Social Services?

Capital Social Services (CSS) is currently hiring for Independent Living Skills Instructors for both part-time and full-time positions. CSS is an Independent Living Agency that services the greater Sacramento area including Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties promoting health and independence for those in need in our community.

We are looking for individuals who have strong relationship building skills to work one-on-one with Adults with Disabilities in their home environment to teach them life skills leading to greater independence. Ideal candidates will have a passion for helping others, be self-motivated and enjoy working independently with our clients.

In this role, you teach our clients Independent Living Skills that may include:

  • Budgeting
  • Cooking & nutrition
  • Cleaning & organizing
  • Self-advocating
  • Navigating community resources

Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching and coaching clients to develop independent living skills on a one-to-one basis in their homes and/or communities
  • Documenting daily case notes and performing monthly reporting for each client
  • Independently scheduling client visits to meet monthly hours
  • Meeting all job requirements, deadlines and other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with people with disabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Solid computer skills and experience

Requirements for starting employment:

  • Valid driver license, car registration and insurance with a safe driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • CPR/First Aide Certification
  • Proof of ability to work in the United States
  • TB/Physical
  • Background check

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
