JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living in order to
promote resident independence and dignity while working alongside a Certified Nurse
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living in order to
promote resident independence and dignity while working alongside a Certified Nurse
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow resident assignment schedule as made out by charge nurse, or Unit Manager;
information regarding resident’s condition and care
- Walk with ambulatory residents or push in a wheelchair as required
- Comb hair and perform nail care (cannot use clippers) for any residents assigned
- Answer call lights in a timely manner and determine if request does or does not involve
helping with TV/telephone, getting a personal item for a resident, giving them a blanket
or pillow, and giving them a food tray or snack); be alert to resident’s comforts and
needs; answer requests promptly and report to nurse any needs that exceeds your
ability
- Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
- Observe all residents and report anything unusual or abnormal to Charge Nurse
- Safely care for residents in a patient and respectful manner despite some resident’s lack
- Follow safety guidelines to promptly remove and clean up urine or bowel excretions from
- Clean wheelchairs, beds, nursing equipment, resident personal hygiene items, and other
- Safely utilize equipment and report any equipment needing service or repair immediately
- Participate in emergency fire or disaster drills and other in-service training as scheduled;
- Follow Universal Safety Precautions in order to protect oneself, residents, and other staff
- Rinse soiled linens in preparation to be sent to the laundry which involves the capability
- Use protective clothing and equipment needed in the carrying out of duties (e.g. latex
- Bring laundry barrels to laundry room, get linens for beds, and make unoccupied beds
- Bring residents to and from daily activities
- Assist with actives going on in building
- Perform clerical functions
- Maintain regular attendance in accordance with facility absence policies
- Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
- Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests
- Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be in good standing on the Nursing Assistant Registry in the state of Texas and the
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal and written instructions in English
- Ability to clearly communicate with residents
- Ability to complete assignments while having constant interruptions
- CPR certified
