The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) treats students who present with motor, visual/ perceptual, sensory and functional needs in an integrated model..__________________________________________PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluation: Assist occupational therapist in the evaluation process as needed (including residential activities of daily living assessments)Treatment: Provides services under an integrated model emphasizing consultation and collaboration with direct care staffImplement feeding program in conjunction with occupational therapist and speech department along with collaboration from staff Develops programs/group treatment ideas to meet particular students needs in all settingsProvides ongoing consultation regarding ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) to ensure safe and successful participation of students Works with students on ADL skills to include hygiene, toileting skills, domestic skills, community skills, social, behavioral and recreational skills, and money managementIntervenes physically in behaviorally aggressive situations as trained (Safety Care)Administrative: Performs all related administrative dutiesKeeps student information confidentialWrite annual IEP goals and objectives in conjunction with occupational therapistDocuments all treatment sessions as well as quarterly progress notesAttends appropriate faculty meetings, transdisciplinary meetings and in-service trainingUpgrades professional skills on an ongoing annual basisProvides staff in-service training to new and existing employeesUpholds the mission and corporate values of St. Coletta & Cardinal Cushing Schools of MassachusettsRegular attendance and promptly reporting to work at the beginning of the scheduled shift are essential functions of this position Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned
