What are the responsibilities and job description for the Furnace Mason SN position at Cardinal?
This position will be required (as a minimum) to mix mortar, carry block, work in the furnace heat, use and operate masonry type tools including spreading fire clay mortar over brick, cutting brick with masonry saws or hammers, tearing out refractory masonry, operate a powered industrial truck, finishing concrete, laying block and other related tasks. Some of these skills will also be taught as the assignments progress, however he/she will never be allowed to work without the supervision of a mason until deemed fully qualified by the mason supervisor, except for picking up parts or tools. This candidate will work closely with the current masons and will work the same hours as the masons. Some overnight travel along with occasional significant planned and unplanned overtime will be required, including nights, weekends and holidays.
