Job Summary:
The Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) acts as the subject matter expert of DEI principles and best practices for Care New England (CNE) to promote the organizations DEI mission to foster a fair, inclusive, and diverse environment and to champion diversity and inclusivity in every aspect of our organization, our work, and in the communities we serve.
- Partners with stakeholders in the creation of training and development programs and delivers DEI-specific training components within the curriculum.
- Develops and delivers presentations, training programs, and workshops including but not limited to cultural humility, unconscious bias, affirming LGBTQ care, microaggressions, Social Drivers of Health (SDoH), and other similar trainings within healthcare industry.
- The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Vice President & Chief Diversity officer in planning and execution of the annual DEI Summit, a conference style program for the CNE community.
- Partners with Human Resources and Organizational Development to continuously update new employee orientation and new manager orientation with relevant DEI content.
- Attends operational unit DEI Council meetings to lead and offer support for employee-focused DEI actions. - Supports the development and oversight of organization wide employee resource groups and other DEI-focused committees.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or similar field required; Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum 7 -10 years experience required with at least 3 year's training experience specifically within DEI
- Ability to deliver clear and effective presentations and facilitation trainings
- Proven ability to collaborate on initiatives focused on healthcare disparities, social determinants of health
- Cross-cultural competencies, including strong emotional intelligence and the ability to engage and build relationships with CNE stakeholders, including but not limited to employees, patients, community organizations and minoritized communities
- Ability to promote productive collaboration across multiple groups of stakeholders involved in diversity and equity efforts
- Knowledge of and commitment to contemporary issues of inclusion, racial and social justice, diversity, access, and equity, applied through a health advocacy and equity lens
- Demonstrated skill in responding with timeliness and accuracy in complex and fast-paced environments and a commitment to high quality program delivery.
- Knowledge of historical inequities related to health as well as social drivers of health for under served communities
- Bilingual candidates, particularly those who speak English and Spanish, Portuguese, or Cape Verdean Creole, are encouraged to apply, but bilingualism is not a requirement for this role
- Ability to effectively coach and lead full-time staff members
