SUMMARY
Collaborate with the TPCS & Anchor Learning Academy Director to oversee all aspects of the TPC School and Anchor Learning Academy to ensure safe, evidenced-based care and education for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plan, develop, and administer educational programs related to TPC School and TPC special education contracts with local education agencies, as well as oversee the day-to-day activities of the classrooms.
Collaborate with the Clinical TPCS & Anchor Learning Academy Director regarding Early Childhood Services, Adolescent Services, Outpatient and Children's Emergency Services to ensure the coordination of efforts, resources and family events and the smooth implementation of services across programs.
Ensure overall operation of TPC educational programs are in compliance with State Department of Education regulations and licensure to include educational services, state assessment, staff competency standards, behavior assessment and support plans, restraint and seclusion, health, nutrition planning, documentation, building safety and fire safety (fire drills).
Participate in required trainings including initial refresher crisis management (Handle with Care) and Essential Learning etc.
Collaborate with TPCS & Anchor Learning Academy Director to develop quality improvement monitors and make recommendations to improve the quality of services.
Lead the development of curriculum and academic programming by working closely with the Special Education Administrator and Team Leaders.
Ensure Anchor Learning Academy provides a focus on recovery in addition to education.
Ensure that report cards and other IEP progress reports are generated according to required time lines.
Monitor, in conjunction with the TPCS & Anchor Learning Academy Director, the school budget including expenses, tuition and other revenue streams.
Review annually the adequacy of tuition rates and make adjustments in keeping with the budget needs and the economic climate of the sending sources.
Coordinate and ensure the completion of annual performance evaluations and merit increases for School staff.
Assist in the promotion, planning and preparation of brochures and other informational materials pertaining to TPC School and market to local education agencies.
Participate in the development and review of highly sensitive and/or controversial Individual Education Plans and other meetings for students enrolled in The TPC School.
Assign and monitor program coverage team regarding coverage for staff absences and vacancies.
Collaborate with the TPCS & Anchor Learning Academy Director in developing and implementing strategic plans for development/expansion of the school.
Recruit, interview and hire quality and appropriately certified staff.
Directly supervise the Classroom Team Leaders, Teachers and Teacher Assistants.
Oversee the ordering of all academic materials, resources, and curriculum and food supplies for the school.
Coordinate with TPCS & Anchor Learning Academy Director regarding the needs of TPC educational, support and clinical staff for professional growth, advancement and promotional opportunities.
Plan and coordinate the provision of Teacher and Teacher Assistant training in required competency areas and in accordance with applicable regulations and accreditation standards.
Attend trainings, workshops and conferences.
- Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended.
Complete record keeping in accordance with RI State Department of Education, TPC Health Information Services (HIS), CARF and other Center requirements and abide by Center confidentiality policy.
Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, community agencies and the public.
- Communicate with various local agencies and other departments or teams at The Center.
- Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff.
- Address problematic staff and staff issues in compliance with Human Resources and agency policies.
- Utilize direction, constructive criticism and supervision.
Maintain active involvement in professional and lay educational and/or mental health organizations in the community.
OCCASIONAL DUTIES: Serve on appropriate Providence Center committees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of Team Leaders, Teachers and Teaching Assistants. Share responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of academic and daily operations of the school with TPCS & Anchor Learning Academy Director . Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Center policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Education or Special Education required. 3 years prior special education or clinical behavioral health experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
RI Principal/Building Administrator certification required. Special Education Administrator certification strongly preferred at time of hire but must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
