What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastry Chef position at Career Start?
Career Start is currently seeking a Pastry Chef in Ithaca, NY. Preferred candidates for the Pastry Chef position will have previous experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker or similar capacity. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for preparing a wide array of pastries, desserts, baked goods, confections, and other items.
Responsibilities of the Pastry Chef:
- Prepare cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc.
- Ensure high quality presentation through numerous decorating and plating methods
- Prepare for weekly planning meetings and review pastry production schedule
- Recruit, train, guide and motivate pastry assistants to ensure efficient workflow
- Directly report to Executive Chef
Requirements of the Pastry Chef:
- Certification or formal education in culinary arts, baking, pastry-making or relevant field
- Vast up-to-date knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, limitations with ingredients and equipment
- Ability to be flexible in terms of schedule, including ability to work on weekends
