POSITION SUMMARY
The Global Macro & Asset Allocation (GMAA) group partners with KKR investment teams and senior management to develop views on economic growth, secular trends and relative value, to help inform global investing, asset allocation and risk management decisions, both internally and externally. While many of the team members provide regional coverage for investment teams in each region, there is a small team in New York that is embedded within the Real Estate investment teams to drive further integration of the macro landscape throughout the investment process. This team also partners with consumer-focused deal teams in the investment process.
KKR is seeking to recruit a talented Principal to join this unique and exciting sector-focused effort. The successful candidate will play a highly impactful role and will have the opportunity to influence investment decisions, contribute to capital raising efforts, and develop content for the KKR brand in media and press.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful Principal on this team will work with the existing MD and Associate to:
- Identify and quantify macro risks and opportunities in major real estate, consumer PE and credit deals, as part of the investment team’s due diligence process
- Model and analyze Fed and other economic data around payrolls, interest rates, and housing to identify investment themes and/or forecast key inputs
- Package model output in presentation format for internal and external distribution
- Participate in weekly deal team meetings to share views with investment teams on macro/thematic risks and tailwinds embedded in major deals
- Prepare materials for monthly meetings with global leadership teams on how portfolios should be positioned, including views on which sectors should be risk on, risk off, etc,
- Contribute to the development of thematic thought leadership pieces on new trends facing our industry, that will ultimately inform investment views
- Serve as an extension of KKR brand in media and public speaking engagements, including such events as the annual Global Macro Meeting, quarterly investments letters, and many other meetings, webcasts, events, and discussions
- Partner with the Client and Partner Group (CPG) to present the unique competitive advantage and value proposition this sector-focused team brings to KKR
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this role will have 3-5 years of post-Master's work experience in investment, macroeconomic or policy research. In addition, they will have:
- Exceptionally strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience building complex financial models, statistical models and producing forecasts
- Expertise in analyzing and modeling Fed data
- An ability to synthesize findings into presentations and write research summaries and reports
- A proactive approach to forming relationships, identifying areas of opportunity, and communicating
- An ability to successfully navigate ambiguity and the creativity to develop new approaches to work
- Interpersonal skills that will allow them to work across many verticals successfully
- A team-oriented, collegial approach, with a positive attitude and a willingness to help out wherever necessary
- Intellectual curiosity and self-motivation
- A desire to take ownership of projects and stay with them until completion
- An ability to prioritize time efficiently while managing multiple demands and projects and remaining attentive to detail
- Comfort operating with complexity; a self-starter
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to think outside the box
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Eviews
- A Master’s Degree in economics
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience analyzing or investing in Consumer or Real Estate sectors
- Experience with Haver and experience using Python to analyze large data sets
- Experience with Bloomberg
