What are the responsibilities and job description for the Catering Chef position at Careers?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):
- Assists the Catering Director with the weekly ordering of kitchen food items based on the weekly production recapping;
- Conducts a weekly inventory of hors d'oeuvres and fillings; turns in to the Catering/Sales Director;
- Ensures that all incoming orders are checked-in using proper receiving procedures;
- Checks in all incoming orders against the purchase order an invoice; Reports discrepancies;
- Ensures that all incoming inventory items are properly stored; Keeps inventory rotated;
- Prepares all production items according to standardized recipes and procedures;
- Oversees all kitchen activities ensuring that all food items are being prepared according to standardized recipes and procedures; Conducts training as needed;
- Ensures that all safety procedures are being followed and health and sanitation measures are being taken;
- Ensures that all kitchen equipment is maintained in good working order; reports all discrepancies to the Catering Manager;
- Assists the Catering Director with menu development.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises Catering Complex Kitchen Staff
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School education/GED with a minimum of 5 years food production and kitchen supervisory experience required;
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Must have the ability to effectively and respectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and fellow employees;
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook business applications;
- Must possess a current driver’s license;
- Ability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as business dictates;
- Must be able to work outdoors.
