Food Safety Manager

The Food Safety Manager is our food safety champion! Responsible for developing, implementing, and auditing food safety programs and practices that ensure compliance with all company and regulatory standards. Reports to the VP of Quality Assurance & R&D.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop, implement, and audit MFI’s food safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a high level of product safety throughout the organization
- Cultivate a culture of food safety and responsible for team member food safety training
- Maintain MFI’s plant readiness for all 3rd party audits (SQF, Organic, Gluten Free, etc.)
- Primary food safety liaison for all internal operational groups including sanitation, production, warehousing, & maintenance operations
- Primary USDA & FDA contact relating to food safety
- Primary contact for external vendors for pest control, chemicals, etc.
- Conducts and coordinates monthly food safety & GMP audits and leads remediation/corrective action efforts
- Responsible to lead or coordinate a variety of internal and external product and process safety related testing programs
- Leads HACCP, SQF, and USDA review meetings
- Maintains regulatory compliance documentation
- Overseas records review program
- Supervises, develops, and mentors food safety and records review team members
- Participates in cross-functional teams to promote food safety across the organization
- Collects/maintains data, creates reports, and acts on a variety of company and regulatory food safety issues
What You’ll Bring:
- B.S. biology, food science, chemistry, physics, etc.
- Minimum 5 years food safety, quality, sanitation, or GMP manufacturing experience
- HACCP certified preferred
- Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner preferred
- Thermal processing experience preferred (Must be able to successfully complete Better Process Control School)
- Excellent analytic and problem solver
- Excellent problem-solver
- Excellent communicator – verbal, written, technology, presentation skills
- Energetic and independent with the ability to contribute to a larger SQF/QA team
