The Rehabilitation Technician's overall responsibility is to support the therapists, assistants and Director of Rehabilitation (DOR). The Rehab Tech is an active participant in the rehab department and is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team. The primary function of the Rehab Tech is to provide and ensure that, on a daily basis, adequate communication of therapy schedules occurs. The Rehab Tech provides assistance to the DOR by assisting with the coordination of resident treatments and ensuring that resident scheduling is completed in an efficient manner in order to maximize therapy service delivery as well as resident outcomes. The Rehab Tech must be able to utilize current technology in order to provide optimal communication of the schedules and to assist the DOR. Additional duties of the Rehab Tech are to assist the therapists and assistants, as directed, in providing services that ensure quality care is being provided to each resident.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicates physician appointments, resident changes to therapy team
- Provides nursing units with therapy schedule daily and maintains record
- Posts schedules per process guidelines
- Adjusts schedules as needed to account for unexpected occurrences to maximize service delivery and communicate said changes per department process
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally with residents, family members, visitors, and staff
- Calls prn/off duty staff to cover open shifts, weekend and holiday shifts, as directed
- Completes as directed any paperwork, physician/resident/family notifications and processes for payers, including but not limited to Medicare Part B
- Assists with payer updates, according to department processes
- Maintains rehab department equipment including calibration logs, inventory and equipment replenishment, as assigned
- Assists in coordinating resident treatment schedules in conjunction with other departments to maximize efficiency of scheduling; prints and circulates to all nursing units r on a daily basis
- Assists the OT and OTA with ADLs and feeding groups, an/or other OT programs
- Assists the PT and PTA with treatments (i.e. ambulation, ROM and hot packs) and/or other PT programs
- Assists the SLP with treatments including but not limited to feeding groups, memory books and/or other ST programs
- Assists in scheduling, transporting, transferring, and lifting patients as required for rehabilitation services
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certified Nursing Assistant License
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Prefer previous rehab aide or technician experience.
- Prefer long-term care or other healthcare experience.
- Prefer previous administrative-support experience.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
