Job Summary and Responsibilities: Responsible to provide clerical and personal care support in an organized, efficient, confidential, and courteous manner to individuals served in Community Living, Day Services and other programs as assigned. This role will report directly to the nurse who may delegate special projects and initiatives to the Medical Support Assistant.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Occupational Competencies
· Disability Care: Experience with the specific methods and practices used in providing care to people with physical, intellectual and learning disabilities.
· Disability Experience: Experience with the nature and types of disabilities affecting the human beings such as physical, cognitive, mental, sensory, emotional or developmental and the specific needs and access requirements of disabled people.
· Assist individuals with physical disabilities: Knowledge of help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence, assisting in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
· Accompany people: Familiarity with assisting individuals on medical appointments.
· Assist individuals with different abilities: Experience with aid clients with special needs following relevant guidelines and special standards. Recognize their needs and accurately respond to them if needed.
· Monitor patient's health condition: Familiarity with frequent examination of the mental or physical health condition of a patient, monitor the use of medication and report on their condition to nurse.

· CNA: Certified Nurse’s Assistant Certification preferred.

Things You Need To Learn On The Job:
· Processes: Scanning and filing all medical paperwork for Community Living and Day Services
· Procedures: Maintain folders of medical paperwork including, but not limited to, maintenance of all medical components of the agency’s electronic information system, which requires proficiency in office technology such as scanning documents, facilitating electronic file storage and using programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Quantum.
Example Activities:
· Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with nurse.
· Check patients' blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
· Assist individuals by taking them to their medical appointments and helping them advocate for their own health and wellness.
· Assist the nurse in organization and distribution of medications to individuals served in programming.
Job Details:
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and lift various weights (minimum of 40 lbs.) for extended periods of time. Must possess the sensory capacities to efficiently and successfully execute the essential job functions. Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, ear plugs, etc. Must be able to follow all required safe and universal precaution practices during a pandemic and as required otherwise.
