Job Description:
This is a Salary Position in the Operation responsible for supervising the activities associated with CDL Drivers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, supervision and direction to CDL staff, compliance with government regulations and safety and security of the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises the daily work and safety of CDL Drivers, including adherence to standard operating procedures, adherence to planned routes, and providing safe and efficient Equipment.
  • Ensures CDL Drivers compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA, etc.) and ensures that DVIR logs are kept current and accurate.
  • Prepares work schedules including extra workdays and shifts as needed.
  • Documents and Organizes required repairs with proper vendors.
  • Interprets, trains, and consistently enforces Company policies, protocols and procedures including but not limited to safety, DOT, record keeping, etc.
  • Preserves CDL Drivers’ relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings. Maintains on-going interaction. Keeping open communication channels with CDL Drivers by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures.
  • Monitors CDL Drivers morale.
  • Ability to visually inspect and have knowledge of Tractor/Trailers general operations. Understands how these operate from a mechanical aspect.
  • Must be able to diagnose and perform minor repairs (If Needed), to ensure the units are able to safely operate during return to home facility or be able to request service properly.
  • Coordinates efforts with the Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections.
  • Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
  • Executes functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.
  • Status Reports submitted daily to General Manager.
  • Breakdowns submitted (To General Manager via email) at time of incident and recorded on FullBay web portal for repairs.
  • On Call Availability during operations T/W from 2PM to 8AM, T/Sun 6PM to 8AM.
  • Performs all duties of CDL Drivers supervised and other related duties as needed (and as qualified). This includes driving shifts for callouts or NCNS.
  • Weekly inventory of all parts held in-house. Monthly tool inventories to be submitted.
  • Other duties as assigned, may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Experience

  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
  • 3-6 years CDL Driving Experience
  • 3-6 years Transportation Supervisory Experience

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License or able to Obtain same with-in 6 Months of hire date.

Professional Skills

  • Successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
  • Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments and operating companies
