Carilion Mental Health-Inpatient Educational Liason

We are hiring a new Carilion Mental Health-Inpatient Child/Adolescent Educational Liasion. The role will include working with children and adolescents ages 9-17 that are admitted to Carilion Mental health Inpatient.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Teaching/skills to teach ages 9-17 in core subject areas such as math, language arts, social studies, science and health.
• The educational liaison will plan, implement and document in the individuals treatment plan to ensure continuity of education while admitted. .
• The Education Liaison will facilitate communication with schools and assist patients in completing schoolwork while hospitalized.
• The Educational Liaison will help parents and students obtain school work, and when needed may prepare work to meet the unique needs of hospitalized children who may be admitted for treatment of acute psychiatric illnesses.
• The Educational Liaison will work with already established educational materials from patients' enrolled schools and, if present, may follow the patients' established Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to assist students in reaching their full learning potential.

What We Require:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or Special Education, or related instructional field of study or equivalent 8 years of experience required.

Experience: Experience in teaching various grade levels. Experience in working with children and parents of various cultural, social and economic background. Able to teach and/or assist child/adolescent patients between 9-17yrs of age in core subject areas: math, language arts, social studies, science and health.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Current teacher certification in the State of Virginia
