What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN Full-Time position at Carillon?
Principal Duties:
- Accurately and precisely administers medications/treatment and documents all medications in accordance with department procedures and expected practices.
- Informs physician, nurse manager, or responsible party/family of changes in resident’s condition or incidents when appropriate.
- Ensures each resident’s Care Plan is followed to meet the residents’ needs and state requirements.
- Supervises and assists assigned Certified Nurse Aides and other nursing staff, delegating assignments and ensuring completion.
- Makes walking rounds with departing nurse and frequently throughout shift including visual and physical assessments, controlled drug counts, and thorough and complete report.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Ensures all transfer, discharge, and admission information is complete according to policy and practice.
- Completes all duties on shift task sheet, monthly summaries, and quarterly assessments.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Must have effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Utilizes the nursing process to deliver nursing care to an individual or group of residents and accepts assigned responsibilities as an accountable member of the Carillon team.
- Work as team and assist all other department members when needed.
- Be able to work cooperatively with other healthcare professionals and other departments within the system.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must communicate with internal and external contacts in a professional manner.
- Show the ability to demonstrate initiative by actively seeking additional duties, as well as accepting and performing all other duties as assigned.
- Have the ability to maintain a professional relationship with physicians, patients, visitors, and staff by demonstrating appropriate interpersonal skills and demeanor.
- Possesses knowledge of and implements infection control and universal precaution practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing.
- Maintains a current license with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners for Vocational Nursing.
- Have a current card for the successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR – Healthcare Provider).
- Have at least one-year experience as charge nurse in a geriatric setting preferred.
