Content Strategist

Role Overview:

Astra Games is seeking a Content Strategist to join our team. Astra Games is a new organization and this role will be integral in building a foundation for future growth and stability.

The Content Strategist will be a key contributor to marketing efforts at Astra. They will be responsible for managing content for Astra and individual games in the portfolio. The Content Strategist will report to Astra’s Marketing Lead. This is a fully remote role.

They will work with the Marketing Lead to define Astra’s communication and social media strategy, cadence, and calendar, as well as generate ongoing content across multiple social channels. They will play a significant role in general marketing conversations, aid in portfolio selection, and help define our public-facing success when it comes to launching new games.

They need to be creative and nimble, and able to chase trends and lean into “what works” for individual products we’re promoting.

We are looking for someone who’s comfortable with context shifting and thinking outside of the box and who’s action oriented in an ambiguous startup environment. This is a role with room to grow while being a key player in the future of a growing organization.

Responsibilities:

• Own the public-facing channels of Astra’s Publishing efforts.
• Define and manage the channel “voice” for Astra as well as individual games.
• Work with the Marketing Lead to define posting strategy, cadence, and calendar for ongoing promotional pushes.
• Create static and video content across Astra channels as well as individual portfolio games.
• Oversee any outsourcing needs with external content agencies.
• Understand when to promote/sponsor popular content and make recommendations to that effect.
• Track and report regularly on ongoing content performance and opportunities.

Required Experience:

• 3 years of experience in social media and/or content creation.
• Fantastic collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with all modern social media platforms and understanding of different content strategies for each (Discord, Tiktok, Twitter, Instagram, and more).
• Proven track record of growing views and followers for game content.
• Strong understanding of the indiescape and its different audiences across genres, platforms, and social media.
• Ability to design, capture footage, edit, and export content for multiple channel formats.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere. Other Adobe tools are a plus, but not required.
• Experience with social analytical tools and setting and tracking KPIs.
• Clear written and oral communication.
• A natural curiosity for all things indie games :)
• Works well independently.

Preferred Location: Remote and/or Northern California. Open to a fully remote US-based position with light quarterly travel.

Salary: $80K-100K
