We have an immediate opening for a Materials Manager for our Plant in Sikeston, MO. This individual will be responsible for managing & planning all aspects of raw materials and MRO goods in support of plant schedules for the Polyiso Plant. They will also manage personnel in support of these operations along with performing all required team responsibilities, when required, while supporting all plant initiatives such as COS, 5S, TPM and ISO.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage & Plan Raw Material, MRO items working directly with Plant schedulers, established vendors and contractors.
  • Manage personnel in the Receiving & Purchasing/Document Control Departments to meet plant expectations, schedules, and goals.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and related inventory reporting requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with the company’s safety programs through leading by example, holding teammates accountable, and performing audits and conducting and monitoring training.
  • Directs and trains others in implementation of the Carlisle Operating System, using effective lean methodologies and problem-solving skills and events.
  • Ensures effective employee relations by providing employee coaching and development. Work with the Plant Manager and Human Resources to make employment decisions and resolve employee concerns. Interview and select employees for hiring. Participate in promotion and/or termination of employees reporting to this individual. Perform position performance planning and appraisals.
  • Train new employees and develop incumbent employees in the positions above.
  • Works in team with other management to continually improve processes such as production flow, safety and quality standards and utilization of materials.
  • Responsible for quality assurance for all incoming raw materials.
  • Meet with Vendors in relations to the process and cost savings initiatives.
  • Attend meetings and other undefined duties

    • Education – Bachelor’s Degree - business major is desired
    • Experience in a management role relating to production planning, logistics and inventory control of 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Proven experience as Materials Manager/Senior Planner
  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting in a fast paced and high-volume environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP MM.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent Organizational and Leadership Skills.
  • A proven problem solver.
  • Logistics and traffic management experience including rail and trucking.
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to lead people and get results from others
  • Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5s
  • Understand fundamentals of coaching, counseling, and feedback
  • Efficient problem-solving skills in the midst of stressful work situations
  • Comprehension/understanding of reading, speaking, and math skills
  • Ability to measure performance of standards and goals
