Summary: Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, CORE Brands, the position of Director, Quality will establish strategic direction for Quality across the organization. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of an overall Quality system and institutionalizing the culture across all functional departments that drives continuous improvements in product quality, process quality and the quality information systems that lead to increased customer satisfaction and profitability for the company. This also includes setting measurable quality expectations and metrics at all levels and functions within the organization and providing the vision, planning and implementation that will lead to an operating environment that exceeds current industry standards for quality. As needed, this position will take direct program management leadership to resolve acute quality issues and to implement crucial process improvements. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and have had proven success in designing and implementing quality systems and processes, providing positive motivation to his/her colleagues in implementing processes and achieving results in an operating environment that includes a complex product and service-based solution combined with multi-site and global presence. Moreover, it will be critical to this individual’s success that he/she has a true collaborative approach to the achievement of goals, be team oriented and be hands-on as well as the ability to effectively communicate with Senior Management Team to continuously keep the Quality system a strategic and operational priority. Salary range is $170,000 to $190,000 depending on experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements quality systems to ensure products and services meet customer expectations.
  • Define measurable quality standards, determining sources of problems and identify specific actions to improve process capability and quality.
  • Provides development and training for quality and continuous improvement on an ongoing basis.
  • Leads all companywide quality initiatives and acts as the primary liaison.
  • Interfaces with all levels in all functional departments within the organization to ensure effectiveness of quality systems.
  • Program management, either personally or through delegation, the resolution of mission impacting quality issues or process deficiencies.
  • Benchmark competitors for Best-in-Class practices.
  • Manages internal auditing process to assess effectiveness of quality systems on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops Business Plan goals and objectives relative to Quality activities and reports on progress.
  • Partner with management to set measurable quality objectives, and to achieve those objectives through leading/guiding a global team.
  • Focus organization on the appropriate metrics and actions across the organization, assuring effective tracking of operational performance.
  • Challenge all aspects of existing goals, processes, and assumptions. Articulate goals and expectations and communicate effectively with the management team. 
  • Serve as a visible leader and role model within company.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have 10-15 years of proven hands-on quality leadership.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in implementing ISO9000 and UNI29000 quality systems.
  • Proven success in implementing quality system in design and/or manufacturing organization.
  • Experience in managing quality processes in geographically dispersed offices. 
  • Must have demonstrated success leading an organization to the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • In-depth technical understanding of software development, product development and the quality function, must demonstrate a keen sense of business savvy in relationships with the group’s leadership team, its customers, and its suppliers.
  • Proven leadership of Lean and/or Six Sigma applications is required.
  • Establishes close relationships with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Technical Service to develop strategic quality programs to meet the needs of the customer and all regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well with other strong personalities.
  • Experience in a growth-oriented organization.
  • Ability to challenge the paradigms for the way the business is being run, add vigor and discipline to the controls and processes.
  • Ability to communicate and work with the Senior Management Team to define, seek approve and implement key quality initiatives.
  • Global perspective and international experience, including the ability to work effectively across a complex global footprint.

  • Experience with supplier & contract manufacturer quality development and management including shop floor in process quality and quality audits.
  • Experience with testing and reliability testing methodologies.
  • Experience with injection molding supplier quality including color and finish criteria.
  • RoHS & REACH compliance experience; implementation and sustaining.
