What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Registered Nurse position at Carlson Law Firm?
Law Firm seeks highly motivated, friendly, dependable, loyal, outgoing, full-time, Legal Registered Nurse to assist attorneys, manager, and legal assistants with daily duties in the Nursing Home Neglect department. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Interviewing and communicating with clients and witnesses regarding medical issues
- Cross-checking and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of alleged healthcare facts
- Organize and identify any missing clinical records
- Analyze and summarize clinical records
- Identify any deviations from the applicable standards of care and scopes of practice
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of cases
- Evaluate causation and damages issues
- Participate in case management and case strategy discussions
- As Time Permits:
- Research medical literature
- Identify client’s future medical needs
- Prepare chronologies and medical timelines
- Educate attorneys and clients about relevant medical issues
- Draft/analyze medical portions of legal documents
- Communicate with expert witnesses
- Assist attorneys in preparation for and/or during depositions
- Review deposition transcripts
- Assist attorneys in preparation for and/or during mediations and arbitrations
- Assist attorneys in preparation for and/or during trials
- Locate and prepare demonstrative evidence for mediations, arbitrations, and trials
Requirements:
- Currently licensed as an RN
- In good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing
- 3 years experience working in Texas skilled nursing facilities as an RN
Preferences:
- Spanish speaker
- Experience as a Director of Nursing
- Experience as an Assistant Director of Nursing
- Experience as an MDS Coordinator
- Wound Care Certified
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator (LNFA)
