What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Inventory Associate position at CarMax?
General Summary:
Performs all duties of an Inventory Associate and provides customer service. Facilitates the direction of work and disseminates tasks from the Reconditioning Production Manager to other Inventory Associates in the areas of: zone maintenance, prep for delivery, vehicle receiving, inventory scanning and reconciliation, final quality of saleable inventory, cosmetic inspections, vehicle movement (both on and off lot), and security. Reports behaviors, attendance, performance and tardiness of other Inventory Associates to the Reconditioning Production Manager.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
♦ Ensures daily maintenance and security of the display areas and work-in-process zones.
♦ Coordinates the efforts of groups of Inventory Associates assigned to perform daily functions as assigned by a manager.
♦ Ensures that administrative records required for the documentation of work performed are correctly completed.
♦ Prepares vehicles for delivery to customers.
♦ Checks in and receives vehicles that are shipped to CarMax.
♦ Completes the daily scanning and reconciliation of the vehicle inventory.
♦ Ensures that all vehicles meet CarMax Final Quality Standards.
♦ Performs Cosmetic Inspections.
♦ Drives vehicles to and from various locations as requested by the supervisor.
♦ Provides outstanding customer service at all times.
Job Specifications:
Work requires ability to:
♦ Read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.
♦ Successfully work with and through associates of other departments within the store.
♦ Perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced working environment.
♦ Lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
♦ Speak and listen effectively in dealing with customers/associates, both in person and over the phone.
♦ Complete CarMax provided training in all functional areas of the Inventory process, allowing for cross-training and full coverage of the Inventory department.
Working Conditions:
♦ Combination of both office and outdoor environment; May include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions.
♦ May require walking or standing for an extended time.
♦ Flexible work hours with shifts that may include nights, weekends, holidays and 12-hour days.
♦ Wears CarMax clothing (acquired through the company) at all times while working in the store.
