What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quarry Crusher Operator position at Carmeuse?
Responsibilities of the Quarry Crusher Operator include, but are not limited to:
- Operate and maintain quarry crushing equipment. Maintenance involves, but is not limited to, lubrication, changing oils, greasing, and inspecting equipment.
- Works co-operatively with other employees with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Monitors work done for adherence to legislated requirements.
- Completion of documents and records both daily pre-shift and post-shift.
- Report production/electrical/mechanical issues to Supervision immediately via both verbal communication and maintenance repair slips.
- Must be able to properly use Personal Protective Equipment, such as fall protection equipment, gloves, respirators, face shield, hard hat, reflective vest/clothing, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and all other PPE as necessary that is required for specific jobs/tasks.
- Able to properly use confined space equipment and follow procedures for entering confined spaces.
- Willingness to cross train in other areas of the plant.
- Any other duties as assigned by management in order to support the plant Production Team as a whole.
- Follow direction(s) given by the Production Supervisor in support of daily production, the Preventative Maintenance program, regular crusher equipment services and cleaning, quarry infrastructure up-keep, and all other tasks as necessary.
- Have a positive mindset that is focused on solutions and how best to support the overall quarry operation.

Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization
Math Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required to walk and occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near safety guarded moving mechanical parts; indoors in a semi-climate controlled environment; in elevated/high places (elevated catwalk); in outside weather conditions; and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, petroleum products, petroleum products, winter and summer temperatures while performing work outside, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud (hearing protected provided for louder environments).
