Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering is searching for a Community Outreach Intern to join the Dean’s Office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by collaborating with the Director of Engineering Outreach to support K-12 outreach efforts, including timely updates, and follow-up on community partner initiatives, and other such tasks as assigned. Your core responsibilities will include: Work in collaboration with the Director of Engineering Outreach to support K-12 outreach efforts, including timely updates and follow-up on community partner initiatives. Establish a connection with engineering students interested in outreach. Serve as the liaison for K-12 schools, including those schools that support minoritized or marginalized students. Continue to help develop trust-based relationships with communities within Pittsburgh that have been historically marginalized. Other duties as assigned. You should demonstrate: Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical skills Qualifications: HS diploma or GED required Requirements: Child Protection Clearances required (Act 33, 34, and 151 K-12 outreach experience required Experience in STEM field preferred Experience with G suite applications Additional Information: The candidate be able to travel offsite within Pittsburgh as needed. The candidate will report to the Director of Engineering Outreach but may also interact with the rest of the CMU DEI Team. The candidate will be expected to attend weekly one-on-one meetings. Candidate will have the opportunity to participate in professional development seminars and activities.
