As the Cost Accountant, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and reporting on the cost of goods sold (COGS) and other expenses incurred by our client's organization. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate cost allocation, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support strategic decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and report on the cost of goods sold (COGS) and other manufacturing costs.
- Prepare and maintain standard cost calculations for materials, labor, and overhead.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between standard costs and actual costs.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations related to inventory and manufacturing accounts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as needed to support management decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and internal controls related to cost accounting processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 2 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency in cost accounting principles and practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
