The Cardiac Cath/EP Lab is a 3 lab unit that includes a pre and post op area. The mission for the Cardiac Cath/EP lab is commitment to the highest quality care given to the community we serve. With a team of dedicated professionals, we strive to provide patients with state of the art invasive and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
Job Summary: Performs the patient care aspect of diagnostic and interventional Cardiac Cath lab procedures. Performs moderate sedation and records vital signs during Cardiac Procedures. Maintains continuity of care for patients while they are in the cardiac cath lab. Operate POC testing as required. The Cardiac Cath Registered Nurse must be able to maintain calm while being effective and accurate in critical situations, foster an environment of collaboration and respect, and maintains a positive approach to working in a fast paced environment. Must take emergency call with a 30 minute response time.
Minimum Requirements: Graduate from an approved School of Professional Nursing. Licensed by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and two years of experience as a Critical Care Nurse preferred. Maintain current AHA BLS certification. ACLS certification required within the first 90 days of employment. As a condition of continued employment, staff members must maintain current status at all times and not allow his/her certification/licensure/registry to expire or he or she will no longer be compliant with the requirement of the job description. Once a staff member’s credentialed status has been negated/lost/revoked, they will be terminated from their position in accordance with this job description and Human Resources policy 3.11. The Registered Nurse must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on this unit. The individual must demonstrate the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
