Job Responsibilities
The Laboratory Master Technician/Mechanic will be responsible for working closely with Engineers and Lab Staff to ensure system/component prototypes are fabricated to plan, test facilities are maintained and operated according to standard works and test plans.
This includes:
Performing experimental set-up and operation of test facilities (installation, fixturing & instrumentation of samples; start-up of test cell).
Troubleshooting and modification of existing test facilities and support equipment.
Follow existing and establish new testing procedures.
Support instrumentation and calibration activities
Operating existing data acquisition programs and implementing changes (as needed) to existing LabView programs.
Execute prototype system/ component fabrication according to plan and needs
Execute test facility modifications and lab improvements.
Perform preventative maintenance on test facilities and support equipment.
Education
AA/AS degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or another post-high-school training (two years duration) with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
Experience Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, quality, and schedule-conscious individual with demonstrated skills in the fabrication, operation, and maintenance of experimental test facilities related to heat exchangers and heat transfer. He/she must be capable of working in a team-oriented environment.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Experienced in the safe use of common electric power hand & bench tools.
Training and demonstrated proficiency in brazing (water and refrigerant copper piping), refrigerant evacuation and charge for non-flammable refrigerants, minor electrical wiring, basic woodworking skills, and use of powered industrial vehicles.
Ability to read schematics and follow written test instructions.
Demonstrated knowledge and interest in Thermal systems (e.g. HVAC&R systems), Thermodynamics, and Heat Transfer. Seeking experienced candidates with 5 years working in a laboratory or service environment. Will consider candidates with less experience and more education
Experience operating and maintaining a Psychometric Facility is a plus but is not a must
