About this role:
Carrier has an exciting opportunity available for a new program Sourcing Specialist 2 for it's Charlotte, NC location. This opportunity is a critical role within Carrier’s fast-paced commercial chiller manufacturing business. It requires a self-directed focus on achieving and exceeding cost targets while simultaneously driving improved supplier resiliency. Carrier Charlotte Chiller Operations is continuing through a sustained period of product redesign and aggressive cost improvement that will provide and challenging and rewarding opportunity for a supply chain professional looking to grow their career.
Reporting to the Commercial Platform Cost Leader, the position will be responsible for sourcing and procurement activities to support new product development and launch. Performing both tactical and strategic sourcing tasks, the position will manage all aspects of the sourcing and procurement process to ensure a smooth transition of activity to the factory Purchasing and Materials teams. The position shall also develop and maintain excellent supplier relationships, develop existing and new sources, and develop sourcing strategies to continuously improve supply chain resiliency.
Key Responsibilities:
Integrate global category strategies with program deliverables
Prepare and process requests for quotations, requisitions, and purchase orders.
Locate suppliers of materials and components and perform quantitative supplier selection for new products
Negotiate contracts and formulate policies with suppliers
Project management of supplier activities in support of program milestones and production launch
Determine inventory stocking and logistics strategies for suppliers with lead times longer than market-driven customer lead time requirements
Develop and execute cost reduction strategies and projects
Develop regional, alternate qualified sources to ensure a resilient supply chain
Basic Qualifications:
BA/BS degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Engineering
2 years working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and bills of material.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to be persuasive
Ability to succeed in the day-to-day management of competing priorities
Technical knowledge/understanding of the commercial HVAC product industry or ability to learn expeditiously
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Quantitative spreadsheet analysis
A strong working competency and ability to expand capabilities continuously and independently with the following computer software applications is required:
Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access
Power BI or similar data analytics is a benefit
PLM, preferably Windchill, is a benefit
ERP, SAP experience is a benefit, AS400 or CHESS by Xerox is a significant benefit
APICS is a benefit
