General Manager-Chester Springs, PA:
CarShop, US - Penske Automotive Group is looking to hire for a very strategic leadership role in our organization.
In this critically strategic role you will be responsible for the total day-to-day operations and performance of our flagship store of CarShop US.
The General Manager ensures the operation of the store in alignment with the company culture which sets CarShop apart from others in the industry. You are critical in setting the tone and maintaining and advancing the company values and culture. Model servant leadership and empowering others while maintaining the balance of accountability for performance. Direct oversight and guidance in the hiring of new managers and associates who “fit” our culture.
Protect and build brand value and awareness, advancing the mission and image of the company according to the Strategic Plan, Values, Vision and Mission of the company.
What will you do?
- Daily oversee the management of all operations: sales, F&I , service, detail, parts and transportation departments ensuring the full use of systems to ensure timely and profitable delivery of products and services. Oversee the wholesale effort for traded cars. Ensure the proper mix of vendors and relationships with those vendors remains strong. Identify problem areas in the operation and with your management team develop and execute continuous improvement plans.
- Recruit, hire, train and evaluate the management team necessary to run the store in accordance with the processes established for team hiring and development. Oversee the same for all department/staff positions and ensure proper staffing levels and successor development is occurring within your store. Develop a successor for your position.
- Manage and develop subordinate managers to fulfill the mission and achieve the agreed strategic objectives of the company. Hold all managers accountable for modeling and advancing the culture while supporting and empowering them to achieve performance goals.
- Ensure that our customers are treated with caring friendliness, respect and integrity at every encounter. Monitor and manage the customer satisfaction index (CSI) of all departments, moving the bar upward to stretch for constant improvements. Ensure all customer complaints are addressed with equity and dispatch.
- Generate timely financial information on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. Closely manage all aspects of the financial performance of the store, create forecasts for future years as directed by the President/CEO.
- Have responsibility on committees charged with developing the Internet presence as well as advertising and marketing.
- Work with the President and COO to develop strategies and goals for the advancement of CarShop as a whole and the maximization of the GM’s store. Keep the company on the cutting edge through ongoing mission and vision refinement and strategic planning.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining high associate satisfaction levels, balanced salary and bonus structures as well as a satisfactory associate benefit program.
- Performance to goals for all financial, expense control and profit goals in accordance with annual performance plan. Accomplishment of strategic goals within annual performance plan.

- Achieve sales objectives in accordance with annual performance plan.
- Relationship and cultural development in accordance with annual performance plan: Attaining CSI scores and development and maintenance of the company culture and values as evidenced by the associate survey results.
- Attain time to lot and finished inventory goals in accordance with annual performance plan.
- Achieve proper staffing levels and training within the store in accordance with annual performance plan.
- Achieve cutting edge initiatives and process improvements in accordance with annual performance plan.
