Summary
The nursing administrative specialist maintains plans, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates time-limited activities and special projects within the nursing division. The nursing administrative specialist serves as a resource for existing teams ensuring departmental operations comply with organizational policies, procedures, and budgetary constraints.
Responsibilities
- Promotes, coordinates, and creates process structure for nursing programs and events i.e Pathways to Excellence, Nurses Week, Nurses of Achievement, Falls program.
- Assists nursing teams to meet best practice and standards through data analysis and reporting to inform workload and resource allocation.
- For inpatient nursing manages PRC easy view, transparency board management, ordering of supplies, and onboarding new hires.
- Leads and coordinates the staff education, scheduling and streamlines the new implications for outcome measures i.e. heart monitoring, Avasure, Hill-Rom site, and hand hygiene audits.
- Assists with the evaluation of specific service areas/programs and coordinates activities for regulatory readiness.
- Assists with patient charges for Resource/PICC team and logs for Dialysis rooms.
- Attends meetings as assigned and reports on actions. Records, transcribes and distributes meeting minutes for clinical committees. Conducts policy and protocol review during such meetings.
- Gathers data, coordinates and develops summaries as requested. Compiles reports from existing records.
- Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget collaborating with other departments such as Marketing, IT, Plant Ops and Supply Chain.
- Project lead on Lean 5s supply room, hospital inpatient room remodel, post survey cap plan, GE heart monitors, and Universal Emergency equipment areas.
- Demonstrates ability to take initiative in departmental requirements, able to work independently and within a team and have the capability to make appropriate decisions independently in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma
- Combination of education and progressive work experience in a clinical setting.
- Solid problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.
- Five years of successful secretarial/administrative employment which includes:
- Business correspondence, including correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Knowledge of basic office procedures and organization.
- Advanced computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. (i.e. Microsoft Office).
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess knowledge and aptitude to interpret, negotiate and finalize contracts, agreements and create event flyers, reports.
- Must have ability to prioritize and respond to multiple simultaneous request.
- Formal course work in related areas preferred.
