- Define the Data Science team’s strategy and roadmap for our Corporations business unit
- Become an expert on Carta’s business domain and available data
- Partner with business and product teams to use data to accelerate decision making and drive business outcomes
- Ensure our internal customers have access to consistent metrics and understand their definitions
- Act as a hands-on technical contributor in data analysis & modeling
- Manage and coach a team of 3-5 individual contributors with varying levels of experience
- Lead initiatives across the data science team focused on driving technical excellence, process improvements, and a collaborative culture
The Team You'll Work With
On the Data Science team, our mission is to enable data-driven decisions and products across Carta by collecting accurate data, building scalable infrastructure and delivering advanced analytics. We believe in building a strong data foundation to ensure data quality and to promote self-service across the company. In addition, the data team works on developing proprietary data products using Carta’s rich and unique dataset. We like to partner with each other and with Cartans across the company to get our work done. We constantly think about how we can improve and grow.
About You
- Demonstrated experience managing a data team for at least 3 years, coaching reports to achieve their goals and contribute value to the business.
- Skilled in building strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring alignment between data initiatives and strategic business goals.
- Expertise in turning ambiguous problems into structured analytical or data science projects and presenting insights to diverse audiences.
- Ability to navigate and lead through change, fostering a culture of bi-directional feedback and adapting to rapid shifts in priorities.
- Fluency in Python and SQL, coupled with a deep understanding of analytical methodologies, statistics, and experience in developing product metrics.
- Experience with dbt and Looker are nice-to-haves.
Salary
Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary commission if applicable) range for this role is:
$192,000 - $240,000 in San Francisco, CA; Santa Clara, CA; New York, NY
$172,800 - $216,000 in Seattle, WA
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
