Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating high-quality pastries and baked goods, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role involves preparing a variety of pastries, cakes, and other baked goods while ensuring that quality and presentation standards are consistently met. This position shall directly report to the Pastry Chef, Executive Chef and Kitchen Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Accurately measure and combine ingredients, adhering to recipes and specifications for consistency and quality.
- Decorate and present pastries and baked goods in a creative and appealing manner, maintaining a high level of aesthetic presentation.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks, ensuring all items are prepared within designated timelines and production schedules.
- Assist in the planning and development of new recipes and menu items, contributing to a dynamic and evolving pastry program.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition, reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
- Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring that supplies and ingredients are ordered and stocked appropriately.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or in a similar role within a high-volume or fine dining environment.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
- Strong ability to interpret and follow recipes, production schedules, and presentation standards.
- Proficient in quality control, inventory management, and maintaining supply levels.
- Demonstrated creativity in pastry decoration and presentation.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on consistency and quality.
- Abilities:
- Strong time management skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of multitasking and managing competing priorities in a high-pressure setting.
- Ability to follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move about for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, and crouching required.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Requires good vision, including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Schedule:
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- 8-hour shifts with potential for overtime during peak business periods.
