Job Description/Expectations

JOB TITLE: Trim Press Operator

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Mid-State / Die Cast

DATE DEVELOPED: 11/2022

REPORTS TO: Die Cast Supervisor

POSITION SCOPE

Associates are required to operate die cast machines, trim presses, and all related equipment. Demonstrate the ability to perform basic quality checks and document performance on an hourly basis. Follow and adhere to safety regulations regarding the safe operation of die casting and trimming equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read, comprehend, and follow written, standardized work instructions and trained procedures to perform any die casting and/or trim machine operation.
  • Capable of diagnosing and performing minor repairs on die cast and trim press machines, and robot gripper systems.
  • Complete tasks and targeted production goals (scrap/uptime) on a daily basis to meet production standards.
  • Capable of repairing water, hot oil, and minor hydraulic leaks on die.
  • Capable of pulling and setting slides.
  • Able to put robot in auto mode.
  • Able to maneuver through Panel View on auto trim presses.
  • Able to operate ladle and recip.
  • Visually inspect for defects following established procedures.
  • Accurately enter data into production software and quality systems.
  • Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to proper supervisor.
  • Learn new tasks and adapt to frequent job duty changes which includes cross training and working on multiple machines as required by business and manpower demands.
  • Properly completes daily paperwork.
  • Clean and orderly work area consistent with safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Work overtime hours as required and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises.
  • Regularly report for work on time with a desire to perform to the best of your abilities.
  • Work safely around and/or while operating heaving equipment or manufacturing machinery.
  • Perform Job Specific Training Form duties if available.
  • Other duties are assigned from time-to-time.

CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, and WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Lock Out/Tag Out experience.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Possess good physical stamina and coordination. Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to:
    • Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
    • Promptly detect and respond to visual and auditory safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
    • Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and steel-toed safety shoes.
    • Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled (conditions can be hot or cold) and/or in hazardous environments.
  • Frequently and repetitively:
    • Bend, push, pull, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work.
    • Lift or carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds and periodically care or lift materials weighing up to 50lbs.
    • Use hand positioning to grip/grasp devices such as hoists and a wide range of power and vibrating tools or other equipment.
  • Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
  • Recognizes potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and explosive hazards.
