Summary
This staff is responsible for all aspects of the health program.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Essential Functions
Participates in fulfilling the corporate mission.
Responsible for managing the health program in an efficient and effective manner.
Responsible for training of personnel regarding all health issues of the facility.
Responsible for teaching staff First Aid and CPR and Med Admin.
Responsible for providing medical attention to any persons served or staff as needed.
Responsible for nurse delegation.
Responsible for keeping MARS reports accurate and current.
Responsible for signing in/out medications for consumers, and keeping a correct count of all medications.
Responsible for preparing reports and other documentation as required.
Responsible for following Casco's Safety Program
Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned by the Individualized Program Manager.
Cooperates with the other departments to assure that goals are met.
Implements and maintains all CARF standards relating to the health program.
Gathers and submits data for performance improvement.
Reports any irregularities observed concerning the care and treatment of persons served.
Maintains rapport with families, funders, support coordinators and co-workers and other stakeholders.
Treats all person served and staff with dignity and respect.
Enforces all personnel policies in a fair and consistent manner for all employees.
Assists in reporting required data to other departments as needed.
Reports to the Director of Home and Community Based Services regarding the state of the health program and any internal or external issues that might affect the corporation.
Furnishes the Director of Home and Community Based Services with adequate information to enable competent management of the corporation.
Must uphold and enforce policies and procedures of the corporation. Does not knowingly expose the corporation to unnecessary risk.
Interacts with other departments and resources to assure that programs, services and supports as well as business and professional performance reflect best practices in the industry.
Must maintain the confidentiality of all persons served records and situations. These must be discussed only with the Director of Home and Community Based Services.
Responsible for monthly face-to-face assessments and/or any additional required assessments.
Responsible for monthly review of the individuals’ health/medical information.
Responsible for training staff on all healthcare needs specific to the individual.
Qualifications
Experience: Prefer previous experience in working with people with disabilities. Education: Current RN degree required.
Skills: Good communication, ability to get along with others, good organization skills, good computer skills, management skills.
Certification: RN License.
Background: This position requires a background check with previous employers, personal references, and criminal records, the Dept of Aging, the Dept of Family Services and the Dept of Mental Health. Information disclosed in the background checks may alter Casco's decision to hire an individual. All employees are considered probationary pending the results of background checks. Changes in regulations or employee status may impact continued employment.

Physical Requirements
Good general health is required. Regular attendance is essential. Lifting 20 pounds on occasion.
Work Environment
The work environment may be noisy with many different activities occurring simultaneously. This position involves direct interaction with a variety of people. Many people served by Casco have disabilities. Disabilities may include severe physical and behavior, sexually inappropriate behavior or physical aggression as a normal part of this job.
