Financial Systems Intern

Position Summary

Casella offers a challenging internship opportunity for high-potential candidates. A real-life learning environment, interns work on critical financial projects that provide exposure to various teams and leaders within the organization. Interns are given challenging assignments that help them to become proficient in business and financial system competencies, including accounting duties, budgets and forecasts, application administration and customer service.

This opportunity will provide exposure to various financial systems used in Casella’s financial operations including but not limited to, Longview Corporate Performance Management (CPM), NetSuite Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Coupa Business Spend Management systems, and MuleSoft Enterprise Service Bus.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides support for the month end close process within Longview corporate performance management (CPM).
• Gains experience and knowledge relating to the budget and forecasting process which includes, planning rollovers, actual summary processes, projected depreciation loads, planning KPI calculations, syncing data between multiple instances, and scenario management. 
• Shadows experienced professionals in software development and technology assets portfolio administration.
• Performs entry-level application administration tasks involving security requests and user support.
• Participates in special projects as defined by the members of the Financial Systems team.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

Applicants for the internship must be working towards a bachelor’s or other advanced degree from an accredited institution in computer science or information technology along with a minor in finance or accounting. Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills combined with excellent problem solving, attention to detail, research, and analytical abilities are required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint), interest in Enterprise Performance Management systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and commitment to availability during business-critical schedules are needed.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively and partner with individuals at various levels of the organization; a willingness and ability to engage proactively in continuous improvement; the willingness to learn and quickly apply skills and knowledge to business processes.

Although not required, previous entry-level experience working with Technology, accounting or finance is preferred.
