Company Description
CASES, a non-profit organization that aims to increase public safety through innovative services that reduce crime and incarceration, improve behavioral health, promote recovery and rehabilitation, and create opportunities for success in the community, seeks a Senior Staff Accountant. A member of the fiscal department team, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for helping maintain the integrity and accuracy of the organization’s financial records. The Senior Accountant reviews and reconciles P&L and balance sheet accounts, subsidiary ledgers, as well as assisting the Controller with the day-to-day operations, monthly close and audits.
Requirements: Work is expected to be done in person – at the office and/or in the community.

Job Description
- Monthly general ledger account analysis and reconciliation
- Prepare asset, liability, revenue and expenses entries as needed by compiling and analyzing account information
- Maintain and reconcile on a monthly and quarterly basis all assigned payroll-related accounts, that may include payroll liability accounts, employee deductions, benefits and tax accounts and payroll related line-item expenses
- Responsible for reviewing on a monthly basis staff credit card expense report, ensuring proper documentation, allocation and upload into the accounting system
- Review bank reconciliations, ascertaining accuracy and timeliness of preparation
- Prepare the quarterly 941 tax reconciliation
- Assist with the maintenance and reconciliation of subsidiary AP and AR ledgers, verifying allocations, accuracy and posting transactions and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare schedules, work papers and provide support for annual agency audit and government funder audits
- Prepare payroll upload file from ADP
- Review petty cash transactions for accuracy and processing timeliness
- Research any significant GL account variances and retrieve supporting documentation when necessary
- Assist with the annual preparation of worksheet analysis and supporting documents for the State Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR)
- Assist with the month end closing process
- Work with the Controller and other fiscal staff to continually review policies and procedures to identify areas for improvement, and maintain effective internal controls
- Assist with other duties and special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years work experience, with at least 2 in a for-profit environment
- Strong knowledge of not-for-profit accounting software Sage Intacct preferred
- Advanced knowledge with Excel; using formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups, a MUST
- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
- Strong analytical kills and ability to analyze financial reports and make recommendations
- Detail oriented and highly organized
