Description: This is an entry level engineering assignment that is responsible for managing various design projects and maintenance support of the East Peoria facility as well as other Business Units throughout Caterpillar. This position will be responsible for developing project scopes, designs and estimates for various projects supporting utilities, facility improvements and manufacturing. The candidate will need to interact with manufacturing, management, engineering consultants, manufacturing engineers and contractors. Develops schedules for projects and be able to adjust to changing business needs. Must be able to manage multiple projects from small to large simultaneously. Work assignments are project in nature and are accountable for cost estimating, project management, and design criteria for their projects as well as the specifications for proper installation and equipment choices. Maintains standards and specifications, recommends changes to resolve design and construction problems, and write periodic reports on the progress of the project as well as tracking the expense versus the budget for the project. Projects and assignments will include but not limited to the following: compressed air, cooling towers, mill water pumping, fire protection, HVAC, overhead cranes, manufacturing equipment installation, above and below ground piping, steam and hot water boilers. Other duties include supporting site and facility maintenance personnel with engineering expertise on any maintenance repair issues. Estimates costs for equipment, materials and installation as a basis for determining the feasibility of alternatives and return on investment. Approves drawings, specifies equipment and writes purchase requisitions. The prospective candidate will monitor the work of outside contractors. Candidate will have future opportunities to advance within the position to gain further work experience, skills and abilities. Job duties include but are not limited to the following: · Project management for construction projects related to design / redesign of facility service systems collaboration across multiple departments and facilities, including: · Cost estimates for capital and expense projects · Design of equipment, piping and HVAC systems · Material procurement and Invoicing · Specification development · Project schedule development and reporting · Recommending changes to resolve design and construction problems · Periodic report writing on the progress of the project · Developing 5-year facility infrastructure and utility strategies which include capital and expense estimates · Performing feasibility studies and projecting return on investment · Troubleshooting issues and resolving problems in the most efficient and cost-effective way · Acquires and maintains technical knowledge in the design field Basic Requirements: · Accredited Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree Top Candidate Will Also Have: · Previous CAD experience · MS Office Experience · Previous internship or job-related experience · Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of employees, contractors, and governmental regulatory bodies Additional Details: · Location: East Peoria, IL · Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify · 5-10% travel is expected Employee benefit details: Our goal at Caterpillar is for you to have a rewarding career.
