As a Technical Representative II, you will consult on product problem management within an assigned territory or industry. Represent Caterpillar/Perkins to minimize the commercial impact of customer complaints related to products, applications, and maintenance requirements, the incumbent has a direct bottom line impact on Caterpillar/Perkins and dealer/distributor financial results. This is generally the second level technical service assignment and represents a shift from learning and assisting to fully contributing to assignments that are broader, more complex and challenging in nature. Job Duties/Responsibilities may Include, but are not limited to: Work with service specialists to ensure dealers/distributors have technical capability to identify and repair product deficiencies. Liaise with dealers/distributors in managing Product Improvement Programs cost effectively and within designated timeframes. Provide technical guidance and assist with dealer/distributor presentations designed to inform customers of service advantages. Work with Service Specialists to ensure dealers/distributors meet targets for Customer Satisfaction Program/Distributor Excellence/Service Capability. Provide input to Service Operations Specialists for shop operations, service process improvements, and systems, to help dealers/distributors achieve higher service quality and improve profitability. Apply market knowledge and make decisions to support and develop product sales, dealer/distributor effectiveness, overall segment growth, NPI process, process improvement, and sales management process improvement. Stay abreast of industry and technology changes and learn to relate those changes to Caterpillar/Perkins, dealer/distributor, and customer needs. Basic Qualifications: University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar discipline At least 5 years’ experience in a field position Top candidates will also have: Completion of the Caterpillar pre-field marketing training development program Excellent communication skills Experience with engines Experience working with dealers, distributors and/or OEM’s. Travel: Travel expectation is 25-50% of the time (Domestic or International). Additional Information: Relocation assistance IS available for this position.
