Manager, Project Management

SUMMARY

The Manager, Project Management, is responsible for managing the project management team and will work closely with the other managers to develop and maintain consistent project management (PM) practices. Oversees the performance of Project Managers; establish goals and objectives and holds PMs accountable for achieving these goals. Handles complex and challenging escalations both internally and with clients. Serve as communication link between design, sales, operations and implementation team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides strategy, direction, and leadership to the project managers. Establishes and communicates goals and objectives for project managers that are in line with the corporate direction and in accordance with client contract terms and conditions.
• Assures maximum employee productivity through prioritizing and coordinating staff schedules and workload when needed; negotiates deadlines in order to meet client requests/needs.
• Ensures development of a top performing project management team through career planning, training, performance feedback, and coaching of staff. Makes decisions around hiring and terminations; with HR, recruits and hires the best project managers.
• Assures project management standards and procedures are established and met.
• Manages project management services profitability, including billable hours; monitors time on projects and works with project managers to ensure that actual time spent on PM work is within the estimated hours for those projects.
• Checks work progress to redirect activity and resources to meet project goals and time.
• Understands sales projections, level of PM activity and senior management team feedback for the best deployment of PM resources.
• Interfaces with sales to ensure PM services are sold to clients during initial sales meetings with
• Represents and advocates for the assigned PMs at management meetings, expressing project and staff concerns, seeking feedback on PM performance, and assisting upper management in the dissemination of company decisions back to the team.
• Facilitates continuous quality improvement of project management best practices to ensure accuracy and productivity, gaining efficiencies, reducing errors, etc.; proposes new approaches, methods, or technologies.
• Meets with customers and A&D influencers to promote Catalyst's services
• Continuously focuses on differentiating Catalyst from the competition and enhancing profitability.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree
• Required: 5 years of PM experience in contract furniture, architecture or design firm
• 3 years managing individuals in project management
• PMP preferred
