What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outpatient Pharmacy Technician / Outpatient Pharmacy / Full Time position at Catawba Valley Medical Center?
Summary of Performance Expectations.
Assists the pharmacist in outpatient pharmacy services: including insurance billing, requesting refills form doctor offices, entering patients/orders in RX30, processing all types of claims and prescription fills. Must be able to maintain adequate inventory levels and correct ordering accounts form wholesaler. Process employee prescriptions, discharge prescriptions, stat orders and indigent drug programs. Works with the pharmacist to periodically review and improve outpatient services.
Education and Credentials:
Required
High School diploma. Registered with NC BOP and maintains 20 hours of Continuing Education in Pharmacy Field every two years. Satisfactorily demonstrated competency by examination in the following areas: IV solution compounding, Advanced operations of the Pyxis medication system, Operation of the tablet/capsule/liquid packaging equipment, KitCheck, Operation of the Baxa Repeater pump, Advanced operation of the C-II Safe dispensing system.
Preferred
Certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT); Formal technical or vocational training.
Work Experience:
Required
One or more years Pharmacy experience. Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
Three years experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or health system setting.
