Dog Trainer Internship at 1-Week Workshop - Animal Shelter
Internship for an Energetic, Detail-Oriented, Animal Lover with Experience Handling Dogs.
The intern position will assist our dog training instructors with everything needed from administrative tasks to dog handling. It is an incredible learning opportunity, on-site at a modern shelter where we immerse ourselves in training and behavior every day for a full week. If you are selected, you will join us for a full week internship from April 15-19. We also have opportunities in June and October which you may be considered for. Your Tuition Grant is the Compensation:
- This is not a traditional paid job role but an educational internship for a dog lover that is excited to learn all about training and behavior alongside pros. The Intern does not receive direct compensation, he or she will be granted tuition-free access to observe the week long session of the CATCH workshop on-campus at the modern facilities of St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center. (This is a value of $1,990 which is the normal tuition for this course.)
- The intern will also receive our learning materials, a CATCH polo shirt, and an internship certificate after assisting and observing every day of the workshop.
- A lunch option and snacks will be provided each day.
Tasks
- Tasks will include getting dogs to/from kennels, and managing dogs of all shapes, sizes and breed types.
- During the many times when all tasks are complete, the intern will have an opportunity to observe training instruction including live demos and training sessions where the students are coached while they work dogs.
- The ideal candidate will be fascinated by dog behavior and ready to help with anything and everything that is needed in a dog training school environment and animal shelter.
Role: Support the instructors and school with all administrative and physical tasks needed.
Duration: 1 week, Mon-Fri
Dates: April 15-19 (We also have opportunities in June and October which you may be considered for.)
Days/Time: Mon - Fri, 8:30am – 5:30pm with breaks

Qualities Needed to Meet Performance Expectations:
- Energetic and physically capable of working on your feet, moving tables/chairs, handling dogs of all shapes and sizes
- Detail-oriented with a high standard and proven track record for getting any job done right
- In love with animals and fascinated by dog behavior, ready to learn
- A good listener who follows instructions carefully and is willing to assist with whatever tasks are needed from room prep and videoing to dog handling and transport
