Job Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic leader that is ready to take on the energy transformation within Caterpillar. You will have the opportunity to engage with and lead some of the best and brightest professionals working on our energy storage solutions product. You will develop and lead the operations and manufacturing engineering teams while also managing the production schedules and assisting with the overall performance of the Advanced Power Product operations within the facility. We will teach, challenge, and test you. Your work will be critical to our and our customers sustainability efforts through electrification and alternative energy.

You will be supported through two-way collaboration as we might need to lean on you as part of our larger leadership team. We will empower you and provide you the autonomy to exercise your unique leadership style to motivate your team of production and management personnel to ensure their engagement and the success of the product line. We are counting on you to develop and establish processes and a governance program within our manufacturing area to ensure we are meeting and exceeding our key performance indicators in terms of people, quality, velocity, and cost.

Job Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations/behaviors and ensure a safe and clean production environment.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering functions to develop world class processes as well as governance and control mechanisms. Spearhead capital investment opportunities to deliver improved OEE results.
  • Coordinate the effective operation of assigned areas of manufacturing to meet established schedules and production requirements while maintaining cost.
  • Ensure proper direction and supervision of activities on multiple shifts to maintain effective utilization of throughput.
  • Implement and support various corporate initiatives such as STOP, BIQ, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS, etc.
  • Manage and communicate facility and production readiness within the new product introduction (NPI) process
  • Promote development of people through continued education, employee involvement, increased responsibility, and ergonomics.
  • Train new supervisors on best practices for leading in a manufacturing environment.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a manufacturing/operations-related discipline) and 8 years of applicable experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or operations OR 12 years of applicable experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or operations
  • Previous supervisory leadership experience within manufacturing operations
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to communicate and adapt your communication style to a variable audience

Top Candidates May Have:

  • 6 years’ experience in managing operations/supply chain/logistics operations
  • 6 Sigma/Lean manufacturing experience or certification
  • NPI process experience
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills
  • Ability to direct and motivate a diverse team of people to ensure divisional goals are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish processes and governance where standard work did not exist
  • Experience in managing electrical assembly operations
