As one of the largest providers of social service in Massachusetts, Catholic Charities of Boston offers over 70 programs and services in 23 locations around Eastern Massachusetts. From Lawrence to Brockton and Boston, our service sites throughout Eastern Massachusetts helped 160,000 of our neediest neighbors of all faiths last year.

We are currently seeking a part-time evening ESOL Instructor for the Adult Education program located in Brockton. The position requires 10 hours per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The English Transcultural Center Adult Education offers comprehensive, high-quality educational services to advance and accelerate the academic achievement of adult immigrant learners who face significant barriers in their search of viable career pathways and self-sufficiency.

The program provides 3 levels of ESOL instruction from beginning to intermediate levels of language proficiency, college and career readiness programming, flexible schedule, and distance learning options.

Qualifications include

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a similar environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of educational theory and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Zoom and other remote platforms. Proficient Internet skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and compassionately in a culturally competent manner, with students of a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels, race and ethnicity with varying level of English language skills.
  • Interest and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good typing skills and attention to detail.
