What is the purpose of our Child Welfare Program?
The Child Welfare Program is focused on providing education and support to clients for successful and safe parenting as well as clients choosing to adopt. We encourage open adoption and believe that adoption is a lifelong process that involves the needs and interests of the child, the birth parents, and the adoptive parents.
Catholic Charities is a fully licensed Child Placing Agency, and can help with clients with domestic, independent, interstate, stepparent, and relative adoptions.
What will I do as an Adoption Social Worker?
As an Adoption Social Worker you will work with both the birth parents and the adoptive family to assure a successful future for the baby. You will establish a positive working relationship with prospective adoptive parents, and educate, evaluate, and advise them through the home study process. You will also coordinate placement of the child(ren) and ensure the adoption is legally finalized through preparation of legal documents and court testimony. Within this role you will support the family’s journey every step of the way and provide post placement support.

What are the requirements?
Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, MSW is preferred. 1 to 3 years of previous experience Social Work, Adoption, and/or Licensing experience strongly preferred. State of Wisconsin Social Work Certification must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
