Job Details
Security Supervisors provide supervision of the security officers and security operations on a day-to-day basis. Supervisors must demonstrate the ability to instruct officers on their job requirements at specific post, draft reports relating to their inspections, and observe activities on post and patrol areas which ensure security and safety policies and procedures are within compliance.
In the absence of the Director, Security Supervisors serve as the highest security authority within the hospital on security operations & protocols.
Supervisors are charged with the protection of life and property of all persons on hospital premises, enforce hospital policies and ensure the safety and well-being of the hospital buildings and grounds in compliance with hospital guidelines and the requirements of the NYS Security Guard Act of 1992.
Additional Responsibilities of the Security Supervisor include :
- Provides operational leadership for daily security operations.
- Conducts periodic inspections of officers to ensure they are in proper uniform, post locations are clean and orderly, and officers are carrying out post and patrol procedures
- Writes and submits security incidents reports.
- Provides internal & external security presence through the hospital and the associated areas on campus.
- Patrol the building and property of the hospital at various times during a shift. Patrol includes the reporting of fire safety issues, inspections of security electronic systems and challenging unauthorized persons.
- Investigates security / safety incidents.
- Responds to hospital codes (emergency, and clinical codes).
- Maintains adherence to organizational policies & procedures.
- Provide employee and visitor escorts, restrain patients or unauthorized persons, and converse with hospital employees on security issues.
- Supervises and Trains Security staff in security operations and protocols.
- Maintains and update officer duty schedules as required to meet operational staffing needs.
- Ensure patient expiration information is properly documented within the Morgue Logbook. Ensures proper decedent release procedures are adhered to.
- Assigns post responsibilities for security officers on shift (to include contract security personnel).
- Coordinates with external agencies as necessary.
- Conducts routine, proactive patrols and visitation of patients & their visitors (per operational requirements)
- Searches for and deters suspicious activity, suspicious persons, vandalism, and / or hazards that compromise organizational safety.
- Responds to all alarms and distress calls and staff safety concerns.
- Manages day to day access control systems and their associated programs to include identification badge production, access control updates, and other ID accessible systems (within security scope).
- Monitors and operates all security alarm and surveillance systems, panic alarms, access control, and CCTV systems to ensure working properly.
- Other duties as assigned by operational requirements.
Requirements for the Security Supervisor role include :
- NYS Security License
- Valid NYS drivers’ license
- AED or BLS required
- Healthcare Security Experience, Active or retired law enforcement, or Military experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Salary Range
USD - USD / Hr.
