Who We Are

Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit, 150-acre refuge in New York's Hudson Valley. It is home to eleven species of rescued farmed animals with between 275 and 400 residents at any given time. In addition to direct animal aid, the Sanctuary offers on-site tours, anaward-winning vegan cooking program, and educational programs that advocate veganism as the very best way to end animal suffering, improve human health, and heal an ailing planet.

The Role

The Digital Marketing & Communications Associate responsibilities focus on all digital marketing categories for the Sanctuary. The ideal candidate will be adept at developing social media content tailored to all our social media channels (IG Reels and stories, FB, TikTok, LinkedIn and Twitter). They will have solid writing and editing skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate will also develop regular newsletters and email alerts using our email distribution tool, MailChimp. Other responsibilities include minor website updates, ability to create simple sliders and pop-ups, and other basic changes (staff photos, bios etc). This is a hybrid position with 3 days on site and 2 WFH with some flexibility based on content needs.

• Draft and schedule posts across social media channels consistent with the organization's voice and missionVideo Content creation for Social Media (Reels/IG and TikTok)

Other SM content creation for FB, LinkedIn, Twitter,

• MailChimp or other email management service
• YouTube content
• Website edits and simple copy/headline, photo updates
• Comment, messages, reviews management on SM and Google
• Updating Social Media statistics on a monthly basis for all channels
• Additional responsibilities may include: Eventbrite creation and edits for events at CAS

Basic understanding of graphic design
Public relations support
SEO

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Stay informed on animal rights issues and suggest ideas for the organization’s blog

• Proofread and copyedit blog posts and newsletter articles

• Ensure communications remain consistent across channels

• Maintain subscriber database

• Create and send out monthly email newsletter through MailChimp

• Perform website content updates in conjunction with the web developer/IT vendor

• Track and analyze key metrics for all social media accounts

• Work closely with multiple departments

• Update local event calendars

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in marketing or communications preferred
• 1-3 years’ experience in marketing, communications or similar, preferably with a nonprofit
• Strong writing skills and attention to details
• Well organized and can work independently, as well as within teams
• Ability to effectively manage multiple, simultaneous projects and deadlines
• Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) and best practices associated with each pathway
• Working knowledge and experience with Photoshop and video editing software
• Proficiency in WordPress or other CMS
• Strong familiarity with veganism and animal rights movements, specifically farmed animals

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
